Programs & Engagement

Maggie Munday facilitates and curates programs that provide a space for gathering and reflecting in ways that day to day life doesn’t always allow. She leads engagement initiatives in galleries and museums that invite active participation with exhibition questions. Maggie Munday also hand-makes zine activity books to support engagement on the go.

Workshop Facilitation

I guide experiences in the gallery that combine thoughtful reflection and discussion with hands-on art-making activities, inviting participants to be together with art and with each other. Most of the workshops that I have facilitated have been through my recently developed Dittmar initiative, the Crafting Community workshop series, whose mission is to encourage "process over product & connection over perfection."

  • Recently facilitated workshops at Dittmar have included: art-making such as collage, drawing with wire, found poetry, & linocut printing, interwoven with reflection elements such as, guided meditation, participant storytelling, journaling, & conversation

  • Collaborators and partners have included: the Block Museum of Art & Northwestern's Center for Student Advocacy and Wellness

I activate exhibitions through collaborations with teaching artists, community organizations, & campus partners.

  • Recently curated program experiences at Dittmar have included: hands-on art-making, graphic score musical compositions inspired by works on view, artist talks, and open mic nights

  • Collaborators and partners have included: Cosmia Opera Collective, Northwestern's Center for Native American & Indigenous Research, Northwestern's Black Studies Department, Helicon Arts and Literary Magazine, Northwestern's Black Poetry Society, & Northwestern's Asian Pacific American Coalition

Other Exhibition Activations

I expand the outreach & impact of Dittmar Gallery exhibitions through varied engagement initiatives.

  • Recently activations include: The Book Nook, a curated reading corner & library of texts to support meaningful, interdisciplinary interaction with exhibition themes, the "I Was Here" Mirror, promoting social media engagement for an exhibition about reclaiming art spaces, and gallery takeaway brochures providing further information and resources
